Showcasing Cole Porter's signature wit and masterful composition, Roundabout Theatre Company's Tony-winning production of Anything Goes features beloved songs such as "I Get a Kick Out of You" and "You're the Top." This timeless tale of boy-meets-girl and the resulting roller coaster ride centers on Billy Crocker, who falls hopelessly in love with a wealthy heiress. When he sees her boarding a boat to London, he throws caution to the wind and becomes a stowaway. Madcap hijinks ensue when his fellow passengers, including the evangelist-turned-nightclub-singer Reno Sweeney and second-rate gangster Moonface Martin, decide to help Billy win his true love. view more less of this reviewOverall, the show wasn't bad. By other reviews here, I knew going in that the parts would be played by females. It was a tad strange at first but then kind of gotten used to it. Chalking it up to creative expression (lol)...
Acting was pretty decent and it was funny. My friend really liked the show & he didn't fall asleep which is a testament in of itself. The seating was a bit tight too and it was pretty warm in there, not sweating warm but a degree cooler.
star this review starred report as inappropriateokay play, not very good, so so acting
star this review starred report as inappropriateIt was okay. Some really funny lines and different but somewhat boring. It was short so I did not regret attending even though it was not my favorite show.
star this review starred report as inappropriateThe play was good, I almost imagined the real Matt and Ben in the middle. The theater had replace the chairs from the week before with less comfortable chairs, I think to get MORE seating. When the play started there was some percussion performance upstairs, like a drum circle, it lasted most of the play. Spoiler alert!!! All four characters in the play were played by two female actresses, I can't decide if that was an integral part of the play but it was interesting, especially when certain physical traits of Matt Daemon and Ben Affleck were referenced that were incongruous with the actresses.
