Written on Jul 31 2012Even with some follow up emails from GoldStar they (Goldstar) managed to get the starting place wrong and sent us to the wrong place about 20 minutes away... not a good way to start the day off.
We had an event that evening that, with the 30 minute late start, forced us to not be able to come back and complete the race. That was not a good start.
This was billed as an "Olympic" scavenger hunt, but aside from teams dressing up there was nothing "Olympic" about it. Likely the same questions as their regular activities. If it wasn't for the fact we met some pretty cool people this would have been a something to skip.
Written on Jul 30 2012Using a smartphone app, you're asked to scan QR codes related to tasks or trivia questions, and then you have to go out and complete them.
Written on Jul 30 2012I really like scavenger hunts and have done a few with friends. This was absolutely the WORST I've attended. Disorganized (they actually sent the wrong location for the start of the event - really???), incompetent (the app were were told to download was listed incorrectly and then consistently crashed on Android. And amusingly, the written instructions had what one of the coordinators described as "oh no, that's another typo - there are a bunch of those...") and just plain lame (1/3 of the game was utterl random trivia played only on your phone - i.e. no actual effort required. #WHY?). Since the app didn't even work for uploading required pictures, we just stopped the hunt 45 minutes in and decided to cut our losses and enjoy our beer. #FAIL
