Born at a Mardi Gras party in Portland, Oregon, MarchFourth Marching Band has become one of the nation's best live touring acts -- and you can catch them outdoors on Pier 15 backed by beautiful waterfront views. More than just a concert, a MarchFourth show is a celebration, with stilt-walkers, unicyclists, fire eaters, puppets, flag twirlers, clown antics, acrobatics and more, accompanied by an eclectic big band in marching band costumes. Anchored by funky electric bass and featuring a 12-piece horn section and a 10-piece drum/percussion corps, MarchFourth takes you on a journey from the swamps of Louisiana to the gypsy camps of Eastern Europe to the African jungle by way of Brazil, while honoring the musical traditions of American funk, rock and jazz. Opening for MarchFourth is Brother Joscephus and the Love Revolution, a foot-stompin' gumbo of roots rock, old-school soul and New Orleans rhythms. Learn More

This is the second time we had been on this boat. Last year the event was much more organized. We arrived to the boat this year and found that we had been moved from the Half Moon Yacht to the Jewel yacht because they hadn't sold enough tickets. We never received an email letting us know this and only one person at the dock had this information so unfortunately we spent about 5 minutes searching for the boat.
When we boarded the boat about 15 minutes before setting sail we were welcomed by about 35 people in really sad costumes sitting around an undecorated dance floor. But the party must go on so we bellied up to the bar to grab some "Halloween Spirit." We ordered two vodka sodas and a corona. The vodka sodas were delivered in what can only be described as a plastic Dixie cup, picture going to the dentist and having him make you a drink in the spit cup. The total for these 3 drinks came to $25. I live in midtown Manhattan and could but 6 drinks for that total.
We then made our way to the buffet which was free last year. This year it was $10 a plate and $2 per empanada. Needless to say no one was eating it.
Before the boat set sail we got our selves back on the dock, grabbed cab and went to our local bar for a much more fun and entertaining evening.
Without a doubt we will not be back next year. It is truly a shame when a great even gets in the hands of the wrong greedy people.
