I was afraid it was going to be yet another assemblage of community choruses with an enthusiastic audience comprised of mostly family members. I was wrong. The children's chorus was angelic and sang with almost unbelievable perfection and sensitivity. Two young soprano soloists took the bull by the horns and were on top of their game. I hope they go far as they have real talent. The "Homeland" collection of songs was inspired, intriguing and varied showcasing the capability of the chorus. Only one criticism: the male pianist played a bit too loud sometimes overwhelming the soloists despite the efforts of the conductor.Written on Jun 28 2010
Bernstein's "Chichester Psalms" (the reason I went but not the reason I loved this concert) were performed nicely, but the soloist got lost in the sound. Hats off the to the instrumentalists who took three instruments (piano, percussion and organ) to replace an orchestra. Well done!
It seems that inexperienced audiences need to be better informed re: concert hall etitquette. The needless talking during concert pieces is a major impediment to enjoyment for serious concert-goers.

Not knowing in advance who would be performing both sections of theWritten on Jun 29 2010
performance and not knowing the size of the orchestral portion being
used for the Chichester Psalms resulted in a let down from my expectations. The children's chorus was very good, but the parents and friends of the performers acted like they were at a sporting event rather than Lincoln Center further detracting from my ability to enjoy what I came to see. There was no way to know who the conductor was nor the groups performing either from the program or any announcement from the stage.
