We don't get to the theater much, but this play made us vow to do it more! I just wish I could count on them all being as satisfying as LaBute's work. Loved him ever since In the Company of Men (I made everyone I know see it). Well done and executed.
An amazing cast of compelling performers bring to life an unusally gifted script. A theater treat that should not be missed.
Show overall was good. It did drag a little before the intermission. Seats were pretty good - Orchestra on the side close to the wall. Theatre is small so you can see wherever you sit. Alison Pill was impressive, remember the best friend from "Confessions of a Drama Queen' ? My friend however didn't think the opening was believable in terms of storyline. The actors overall gave a good performance. The general writing could've been beefed up a little for the storyline.
I've seen LaBute's films, but this was the first play of his I've seen. I always thought his movies had a mean misogynistic streak (though others interpret them as a "comment" on misogyny). In this play, the male lead is more sympathetic, but the female characters still seem to be treated as the root of a great deal of male suffering.
Really hit home in so many ways. Extremely clever and engaging characters and dialogue. Glad to know it's opening on Broadway in the fall. Thank you Goldstar!
Excellent acting. Fairly good structure as a play, but the need for a final soliloquy to extend the narrative should not have been needed in a well-made play. Also, it should not have been required to nail down the message about the costs of physical beauty.

In reasons to be pretty, Greg’s tight-knit social circle is thrown into turmoil when his off-handed remarks about a female co-worker’s pretty face (and his girlfriend’s lack thereof) get back to said girlfriend. But that’s just the beginning. As their relationship crumbles, their friends are pulled into the fray, and all are forced to confront a sea of deceit, infidelity, and betrayed trust in their journey to answer that oh-so-American question: How much is pretty worth?
