When a trio of African-American sisters, their mom and their white sister-in-law arrive for the funeral of the family matriarch, they begin to unearth mementos that lead them to look back at their own relationships as well as the history of black women, as told through the hit songs of each era. Dorothy Marcic's musical takes you through the struggles of the '30s and the girl group sounds of the '60s, right up to the power decade of the '90s with songs ranging from Billie Holiday to Beyonce, including ""Oh, Happy Day," "Mama Said," "I Will Survive" and "A Woman's Worth." a Carol Channing impersonator who did a credible job and was very connected to the audience. Richard was pleasant, talented and professional.
Very small audience which makes it awkward. The venue of St. Luke's theater is a "basement theater". We enjoyed, although it is not a sophisticated event.

- "The first time ever I have been shown with such love, respect and polish! Richard Skipper is a true musical theater star! He is fabulous as me!" <em>--</em>Carol Channing
- "An unqualified musical comedy gem."<em> --Backstage </em>
Accompanied by a three-piece band, Richard Skipper blends Carol Channing’s standards with original material and other familiar songs sung in spot-on, Channing-on-Broadway perfection. The musical surveys Channing's life with many stops along the way for Skipper's unique -- and riotous-- 'ad-lib' interactions with the audience. Richard Skipper is a four-time recipient of the MAC (Manhattan Association of Cabaret) Award and a Back Stage Bistro Award for Best Performer. He was named one of the Top Ten Cabaret Performers by Cabaret Hotline and one of the Top of the Century Premiere Cabaret Acts by Cabaret Scenes Magazine.
