It was a great mix of really modern dance that phased into fairly classical ballet (but without the torturous pointe shoes!), all coupled with jaw-dropping lifts! I had seen a Taylor preview at one of NY's Fall for Dance Festival and was so excited to see this one -- even better!

The dance troupe was superb, each act was so special. It was so entertaining that the time just flew right by. Great for all ages.

Modern dance at its best.

Exceeded my expectations! Terrific very moving show that showcases the variety of modern dance at its best choreography. Great lighting and costumes. Everything from disturbingly eerie modern dance movements to romantic an sweet with a happy ending, this show was a wonderful Sunday afternoon well spent.

We enjoyed the performance, but don't understand why we were seated on the uncomfortable seats in the loge, when there were plenty of unoccupied comfortable seats in the orchestra.

The Paul Tailor 2 dance company is a smaller version of the troupe, with six dancers. It was a beautiful programme, classical and very modern at the same time, a must-see for dance lovers!

I sent my two sisters, for Mother's Day. One of them has already called me to thank me for sending her to "such a wonderful program! The dancers were wonderful."

This is an amazing progam _ especially the last piece, "Arden Court." I really enjoyed it very much!

The Paul taylor group was wonderful and the service, the venue was perfect.
Iwould very much reccommend it and I will be going to many more events.

This was a really well constructed evening. The first peice was really strange, kindof dark and very modern. The show moved toward more traditional styles, brighter colors. The last peice was really playful, my boyfriend and I couldn't keep from smiling and laughing. Overall the production gives a feeling of coming out of darkness. It was wonderful.

the great show and ticket purchase/ pick up was smooth and easy--thank you!

The small Taylor company danced fabulously and worked hard. Everyone danced nearly all the time. Passionate, talented dancers, lit from within. And seeing more than 30 years of Paul Taylor's choreography in a single program was very instructive. His vocabulary of movement is often quite unique and compelling. Also, after the performance there was a Q&A with the rehearsal master. Very enlightening. A great evening.

The main Taylor company is much better, but the Joyce is a cute little theater and the dancers are definitely impressively athletic!

It was a wonderful performance. I took my seven year old daughter who has been taking ballet a short while. She was excited to recognize forms that she has prcaticed. There were 4 different pieces with intermissions(mostly short) between each, which was good because she didn't get bored and neither did I. I would recommend for parents, nothing suggestive, just graceful dance.

The dance was interesting and beautiful at times but the music was not - it was actually grating.

Wonderful event....some of the best dancers I have ever seen were at the Joyce theater.

The first two pieces were danced to horrendous modern music. The second half of the program was much more pleasant.

Terrific! We didn't want it to end...
The repertoire:
Runes
Music by Gerald Busby
“A major creation… The enormous pathos that arises in the final moments of [this striking heroic poem], when all the elements of the piece are combined and restated and still the momentum leaps ahead--this pathos comes from the unstoppable energy of what Taylor has set in motion.” --The New Yorker
Roses (Duet)
Music by Heinrich Baermann
“Beautiful in its visual effects, poetic in its natural flow of movement. The piece is an ode to tenderness and blooms like a flower.” --New York Times
Profiles
Music by Jan Radzynski
“The dancers are often in profile (with a nod to Nijinsky’s Afternoon of a Faun). The most sculptural of Taylor’s dances… with its intensity and charge, this is a key Taylor work.” --New York Observer
Arden Court
Music by William Boyce
“Brilliant… a continuum of non-stop movement with the force of a rocket send-off… how the dancers execute such difficult steps at such speed is a must-see.” --New York Times
Paul Taylor established Taylor 2 in 1993 to ensure that his works could be seen by audiences all over the world without regard to economic or logistical limitations. He worked with longtime colleague Linda Hodes to create a company the same size as his original 1954 ensemble that could accommodate performance requests as well as teach classes in Taylor style and repertoire and provide community outreach. Former Taylor dancer Tom Patrick was named rehearsal director of Taylor 2 in 2004. The company's six dancers are Alison Cook, Jamie Rae Walker, Latra Wilson, Justin Kahan, John Eirich and Nic Ceynowa.
On May 6 (Humanities Night), the program will be followed by a discussion with the dancers.
