Great day learning about the past, current and future of the business of Broadway. The speakers were very good at keeping on point and on schedule. Neil Patrick Harris on video providing his take on the questions of the day were a welcome interlude. The best value received for $100 I've gotten on Broadway for quite some time.I look forward to attending the second TEDxBroadway in 2013.
The Vision: 20 years ago, in January of 1992, Broadway was a different place: Times Square and the environs were dangerous and down at the heels, the World Wide Web had just launched, and the Soviet Union had come to an end just a month before.
So much has changed on Broadway in that time that it begs the question “What will Broadway be like 20 years from now?”
But there’s an even better, more important question than that: “What’s the best that Broadway can be 20 years from now?” And that’s the question TEDxBroadway will attempt to answer.
The event will run from 11am to 5pm (including registration and breaks), but stick around because there will be a cocktail party immediately following the final session.
TED is a nonprofit devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. It started out (in 1984) as a conference bringing together people from three worlds: Technology, Entertainment, Design. Since then its scope has become ever broader. Along with two annual conferences — the TED Conference in Long Beach and Palm Springs each spring, and the TEDGlobal conference in Edinburgh UK each summer — TED includes the award-winning TEDTalks video site, the Open Translation Project and TED Conversations, the inspiring TED Fellows and TEDx programs, and the annual TED Prize.
TEDx was created in the spirit of TED’s mission, “ideas worth spreading.” The program is designed to give communities, organizations and individuals the opportunity to stimulate dialogue through TED-like experiences at the local level.
About Damian Bazadona
Damian Bazadona founded Situation Interactive (formerly, Situation Marketing) in 2001 and oversees the strategic direction for the company which maintains offices in New York, Las Vegas and Los Angeles. About Joseph Craig*
Joseph Craig has more than 20 years of experience in entertainment marketing and market research, starting his career at Blockbuster Video before moving on to Paramount Pictures and then for The National Research Group, a division of Nielsen Entertainment that conducts market research for the major Hollywood studios. While at NRG, Joseph saw an opportunity to expand the company’s clientele, forming NRGi in 2003 to bring market research to independent filmmakers and Broadway producers. In his five years at NRGi, he developed countless relationships with theatrical producers, filmmakers and studio heads. Joseph left that position in 2008 to co-partner at Entertainment Research and Marketing (ERm), dividing his time between the New York and Los Angeles offices. Vincent Gassetto is the Principal of the Academy of Applied Mathematics and Technology, also known as M.S. 343, which is a small middle school located in District 7 of the Bronx. About Steve Gullans
Steve Gullans, PhD, is an innovator, entrepreneur, and investor who enjoys translating scientific breakthroughs into products and services that transform people’s lives. As a professor at Harvard Medical School for nearly 20 years he focused on applying advanced technologies to human diseases. About Neil Patrick Harris*

About Gregory Mosher
Gregory Mosher is the former Director of the Lincoln Center and Goodman Theatres, and is the producer or director of nearly 200 plays at those theaters, on Broadway and in the West End. His colleagues have included Samuel Beckett, Arthur Miller, Tennessee Williams, David Mamet, Richard Nelson, Edward Albee and many of the country’s leading actors and directors, including Peter Brook, Jerome Robbins, and Mike Nichols, in such premiere productions as Glengarry Glen Ross, Six Degrees of Separation, Freak, and Sarafina!
