The program that was put together seemed to be very amateurish and not well thought out. Many of the items were in the same location, there was not a large variety of things to find (though plenty of "types of people" to find), there were no "clues" to figure out, nothing about this event helped "get to know NYC", and the packet that was put together was sloppy and just xeroxed for participants. There was also no one there in advance and no signage, and many people questioned if they were in the right place upon arrival. Staff running the event were not enthusiastic about running the event in the least. Prizes were extremely trivial. Event price seemed very excessive both respective to the value received as well as the cost to put this together. Definitely would not recommend.Written on Mar 08 2012

We showed up at Frances Tavern and signed in. We then were given name tags and an extra credit assignment. Then we got xeroxed packets and had to go out to find certain things and take pictures of them. What I did not like is that there was not really much thinking to do. You did not really have to figure out clues, you just had to find things. Also, I thought this would be a fun thing for my out of town guests to do to discover things about NYC. Some of the things we had to find were NYC specific, but most did not (what does finding someone in shorts or a fur coat have to do with NYC?). Also, after awhile we got sick of asking people to be in photos with us, and asking people to take pictures for us. Additionally, most of the things we had to find were in the same area, so everyone wound up in the same place. When we got back, the organizers were not at the tavern. We did not win, or even place. The prizes seemed to just be T-shirts. I really don't understand where all of the money you pay to participate goes. Copying fees are negligible, and the prizes didn't seem to cost much. All in all, we did not really discover anything about NYC, and felt awkward having to bother so many people for photos. I would not recommend this experience.Written on Mar 06 2012

Description
POGO Events presents The Amazing New York Race -- part scavenger hunt, part obstacle course and all New York. A series of clues leads you around the city performing physical and mental challenges along the way.
The winter races are all underground so you can avoid the cold! Learn about what lurks beneath the surface of NYC while having a fun, interactive experience!
You can sign up as a team or as an individual, and you will be partnered with a team. Each member of the winning team receives a New York City gift package.
The Race takes three hours. The winner will be announced 30 minutes after the finish.
Each participant must bring a Metro Card that can be purchased at any New York subway station.
One member of the team should have a digital camera or camera phone. If you don't, please let the organizers know, and they will pair you with someone who does. It is a great way to connect with friends or meet new ones.
Please dress comfortably and appropriately for the weather and wear comfortable shoes.
