Sweden's responsible for some very cool exports to America, including IKEA, ABBA and fine chocolate. Now their hip-hop-jazz group Movits! has made its way to our shores, touring behind their latest CD Huvudet Bland Molnen (Head Amongst the Clouds). Actually, the band benefited from the famed "Colbert bump" after appearing on the late-night host's show in 2009 with tunes from their debut disc Äppelknyckarjazz. Since then, they've been spreading their signature mix of swing, hip-hop and jazz across the globe. This band of brothers and a friend features vocalist Johan Jivin' Rensfeldt DJ and multi-instrumentalist Anders Rensfeldt and saxophonist Joakim "One-Take" Nilsson. New York's own M.A.K.U. Soundsystem opens the show, which will take place in the Marlin Room at Webster Hall. Learn More
Get on line before 7:30pm so you can grab a table. Otherwise, most of the people sat on a long leather couch that wrapped around the room. Don't overdress since it gets warm in their. Ladies, dress jeans and a top is perfect! Drinks are pricey - worth paying an extra $5 to get a double shot drink in a large cup.NYC Dueling Pianos info • Mar 25 2013 star this tip starred

AWESOME is a great word to discribe the event! My boyfriend and I went, not knowing exactly what to expect but dressed the part. He wore a throw back Member's Only jacket, black T, jeans, red All Stars and 1980 shades. I wore a blk mini dress, hot pink fishnets, short boots w/ leg warmers, big hair, lace gloves and a hot pink bow in my hair. We fit right in!!
From the second you hit the door you felt as though you went back in time. The setting is 1989 Prom night. And you are as much a part of the show as the actors... Which ROCKED!! My date was actually pulled in to a football huddle in the hall. We got seperated 3 times for dancing too close by a 'teacher' and again by the 'Principal'... The drinks were VERY reasonable at $6 for a Jack and Coke and the music was AMAZING!! We danced our butts off all night! The crowd ranged from a few younger girls 13/15 to about 50ish - with about 50-60 people tops. The atmosphere was soooo 80's prom with all the 'movie type' 80 characters - almost anything would work as far as attire...The 80's was all about the hair, the attitude and the music.. We lived the 80's and LOVED the Prom!!! If you go with an open mind and an intention to Rock all night... You'll have a great time!!

If you are from the 80's expect to be disappointed at this event. The cast screamed most of the time and in my opinion no one was dressed like true 80's. Not one gal with BIG hair. Worse was the crowd at the event. Unless you are a girl...continued

The Awesome 80s Prom is a brand-new blast-from-the-past party in the style of Tony ‘n Tina’s Wedding and The Donkey Show, set at Wanaget High’s Senior Prom…in 1989! All your favorite characters from your favorite ‘80s movies are at the prom, from the Captain of the Football Team to the Asian Exchange Student, from the Geek to the hottie Head Cheerleader, and they’re all competing for Prom King and Queen. And just like on American Idol, the audience decides who wins, all while moonwalking to retro hits like “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” and “Wake Me Up Before You Go Go!” Come “Back In Time,” to quote a Huey Lewis tune, and join the breakdance circle or just sit back and watch the ’80s drama unfold. Come on, you know you have a Members Only jacket somewhere…
