Written on May 04 2012The event was ok, nothing out of this world. I expected more organization on behalf of the staff.
Written on Apr 27 2012I've been to other burlesque shows and I've been to better. The girls barely showed their nipple tassels and the body types weren't diverse. I like seeing all kinds of body types at burlesque show...curvy, skinny voluptuous, etc. I over heard some guy in the table over say that they all had the bodies of 12 year old boys. Nonetheless, I still have fun, but it was a junior varsity rendition of some of the burlesque shows I've seen in the city. The price of the tickets are really just the price for the two drinks. The place was fine, just get there early so you can get better seats.
Written on Apr 27 2012It was interesting to attend this eventno problems
Written on Apr 23 2012I would not bother getting tickets to see this show. I was soo excited to be let down from the min I walked into the show
Written on Apr 22 2012This event was at a bar/club/lounge type place. It was different and interesting. Mostly a burlesque type show. I enjoyed it.
Written on Apr 21 2012It was a waste of time and money. Not interesting at all!!
Written on Apr 20 2012The magic was probably the best thing they had to offer and Apathetic Angel, one of the performers.
Written on Apr 20 2012Fun! Had a great time! Show was very entertaining! Arrived at 935 or so and got a great seat... only downside was the show only lasts about an hour.
Written on Apr 20 2012All I ask is that you come with enthusiasm! I think the crowd was lacking a little spunk and it made it kind of an uncomfortable show. There is no proper stage, just a bar that has been cleared away to make room for the performers, so that in itself makes it a little special. But just cheer, don't hesitate to donate either to the go-go dancer or at the end when they pass the hat around.
Written on Apr 20 2012I wish I had seen more of the event. We checked in at 9 then went upstairs to have a bite to eat, came back downstairs to watch the event, but was stopped by a gatekeeper who said we had no "stamps" on our hands. After several minutes (the show has now started ...), he finally found the woman who checked us in -- she had zero recollection of us checking in, nor did she mark it on her clipboard. Finally we were "stamped". Then I spent way too much time at the bar trying to explain to the bartender that my group had two drinks per person included in the price. Even showing my confirmation didn't work. So paid for first round in order to just move one and pay attention to the show. During a break, we tracked down the stamp lady who admitted she also forgot to give us drink tickets. In terms of the show itself, it's okay. Get a good seat or you're screwed because they allow people to stand in front of tables rather than move to the bar. all in all, not worth it.
Written on Apr 14 2012The event wasn't what I expected and the venue wasn't very good either. I saw the show with a friend who has a degree in dance and we both agreed that the ladies dancing were well choreographed and on point. However, the show was short and not very attention grabbing. Many people weren't even paying attention to the performance or had their back turned to the stage.
About 10-15 minutes after the show was over we were still sitting down and one of the managers rudely asked us to leave our table "because there were promoters who needed to get in." We were forced to get up from the table we had been at all night before we could even finish our drinks.
BUT! given what drinks cost there normally, I concluded I got my money's worth. I definitely wouldn't go see it again or recommend it to a friend though.
Written on Apr 14 2012Show started with a G-rated strip show (girl) and between 3 burlesque routines the Master of Ceremony performed minor but interesting magical tricks. Best view available if you sit close to the booth near the front entrance to Hotel Chantelle; preferably on the left side standing area. I got there early and managed to put a stool from the bar in that area. Had front-row seating. The person who "checks you in" (she only seemed there to give you your VIP drink tickets) will give you only one drink ticket if you don't let her know that VIP passes entitles you to 2 drinks. Technically, you're suppose to order your drink at the bar but a waittress was nice to me and got my drinks (I ordered both drinks at the same time) for me. Ordering drinks at the bar could pose a problem if done during the show. Can't beat the price for this event. I paid $7.50 for a VIP pass. At Hotel Chantelle a beer costs $7.00 and drinks $14 or more. If you're in a good spot for watching the show, you could lose it. You can't get the free drinks until the show starts at 10:00 pm . . .
Written on Apr 14 2012the stage was a booth in the bar, the bar was crowded , if you werent up close it would be impossible to see. the bar tenders were overworked and it took a long time to get your drink.
Written on Apr 14 2012Crowded... No seats
Written on Apr 13 2012awful. except for the two free drinks, i would give it 0 stars. all it was, was a few anorexic girls in bikinis dancing. the "magic" was some guy who did one trick with a rope (poorly). don't bother.
Written on Apr 13 2012I think it would have been enjoyable if a different venue. We couldn't see the show where it was performed. The surroundings were noisy which made it hard to hear and focus on the show. It said 2 drinks - I thought that was per ticket but I just misunderstood. They should say one drink per ticket.
Written on Apr 06 2012Poorly organized venue taken place in a tiny bar /restaurant.No stage or seating area .People crowded around one side watching a few scantily clad ladies and a wannabee comic/magician.No admission charge so anyone was welcome to view the so called "show".Bar waitress could not maneuver around the audience which was overcrowded but gave me a 2-drink coupon which I did not redeem.Left in 15 minutes and would hope to get a refund for being inconvenienced at best.I would hope Goldstar would research their offerings before presenting them to the unsuspecting public.
Written on Apr 06 2012The show is mediorcre. Obviously not professional dancers. The stage is a tiny 3 inch platform, a booth and the floor. You will have to stand the entire time and people will be crowded around the stage so you might not even be able to see. Not worth it if you paid for it but if it's free (which alot of people there were just bar patrons and didnt pay) I guess its not a bad extra.
Written on Apr 06 2012Avoid! The hostess didn't tell us that the free drinks didn't start until 10PM and we ordered drinks only to have to pay. When we found 2 seats that staff kicked us out of those seats because they were reserved. I was under the impression that it was first come first served seating.
In the end after paying for our first two drinks and after getting kicked out of the seats we had found we left before the show started. Waste of time, money and effort.
Written on Mar 30 2012THE SHOW WAS ANEMIC!
Written on Mar 30 2012It was fun and the show was entertaining and the atmosphere was relaxing. The only thing I didn't like was that there wasn't enough seating and I didn't have a great view of the whole show having to look over other standing people to see it.
Written on Mar 23 2012Horrible! Tacky as hell and def not like other cabaret shows I've been to. My friends and I left 15 minutes into the show. Do yourself a favor and sit this one out.
Written on Mar 16 2012Great show funny mc Was looking for more magic.....
Overall Good Time......
Written on Mar 16 2012The show description was not very accurate. It was more like a strip club with really subpar acts in between the girls dancing. I was expecting real burlesque, and a real cabaret. There was only one sung song, and it was pretty bad, and there ws no rock and roll to speak of. The space is also not conducive at all to audiences, and there is virtually no sitting space. Great bartender, though.
Written on Mar 16 2012I loved, loved, loved the show. It was everything I'd expected: sexy, entertaining, and fun!
Written on Mar 16 2012I don't understand y people are complaining about seats when the event is held at a bar. We went to this event and enjoyed it very much. We pretty much felt like we were part of the cast. The girls were gorgeous and come up close to you. The guy doing the magic tricks is sooo handsome and is quite magical. His tricks were pretty impressive. The crowd was alive and I would definitely be going back with different friends.
Written on Mar 10 2012VERY SEXY AND ENTERTAINING! THE VENUE IS PRETTY SMALL BUT THE SHOW IS GREAT.
Written on Mar 10 2012We arrived at the event exactly 45 minutes before the start of the show and already the place was full with no place to sit. It took us about 35 minutes to get a drink at the bar. The drinks were basically just lemon water, which we did not finish, on top of which the show was a just a ridciulous excuse to rob us of our money.
Written on Mar 10 2012Show was relatively entertaining and ok, but i wasn't too impressed. First, place was too crowded and despite of the fact that the 4 of us were standing on one of the sides (right by the door, by admissions) we couldn't really appreciate well what was going on. The dancers looked to the front most of the times, towards the center of the room, and role-played only for patrons right before the stage, making the crowds on the sides feel excluded. Also, tickets at the door were $5.00, thought the site said they would be $10.00 each. I purchased 3 "V.I.P' tickets online thinking that would guarantee a better view, but that was not the case. All patrons were mixed up and all over the place. The 2 drinks included with the VIP tickets (13 each including processing fees) were REALLY REALLY bad, water down, mostly ice. I'd rather paid $5 at the entrance and buy my drinks separately. That's what would do if I ever go back to Hotel Chantelle for a show, which I really doubt.
Written on Mar 10 2012THANKS WE LOVE IT!!!
Written on Mar 10 2012I think the title is misleading. There was no magic tricks, and the dancing was really bad. The place was small and u can't really see anything. My friends left after 20 minutes and it was a stretch for them. I stayed till the end and was mostly bored. I would say: skip it.
Written on Mar 09 2012Much to crowded to enjoy show. Not enough seats at the bar. Didn't get to sit down. Show not that good.
Written on Mar 09 2012This is definitelly nothing as described! I thought that you will be able to sit in a chair and enjoy the show and that it will be a great show as advertized, but the place was terrible, you had to watch it standing up and the people on the front will not let you look it up, and the show per se it wasn´t more that you will se in a strip club! I would definitely would not recomend it!
Written on Mar 09 2012I got there early and was granted admittance. Got a good table to fit four people. It wasn't crowded yet and I got the bartenders attention. She made fantastic drinks, however, by the time the show started at 10 PM the bar was really busy and she was the only bartender on duty. There is no stage and the show is difficult to see because people have to stand and the crowd was at least 6 feet deep. it's a kind of funny and wacky show the little I could see , but I didn't begrudge them the money because the drinks were so good.
Written on Mar 09 2012This is the worst even that I have ever been to. The women at the door was extreamly rude to everyone...yet she couldnt even do her job af the door properly. She had no record of anyones tickets at will call and wanted people to stand outside while every one else who had tickets filled up the only ten seats in the place. The bartenders and host were all rude and racists. The show its self...well I couldnt see BC there was no stage! Not the best place for couples...and clearly not minorities.
Written on Mar 09 2012I have seen bad shows before but this one beats them ALL. The venue is terrible, obviously not designed for a show of any kind. The bartenders are rude and the drinks are watery. The show itself, supposed to be fun and sexy is instead predictable, boring, unfunny. I felt bad for the performers. One more thing: the room is too crowded, it’s impossible to sit, to see, to hear anything. This makes the show even more disgusting than it is. Do yourself a favor: DO NOT GO!
Written on Mar 05 2012Horrible set-up. Walked in at 10pm, when the show was to start, and already the place was packed. The venue was infested with drunk guys oogling the dancers. A larger venue or smaller crowd would definitely have made the experience better. On the plus side, the check-in lady managed to give us 6 drink tickets, which we were able to redeem upstairs where it was more spacious and comfortable.
Written on Mar 05 2012If you get there even 20 minutes before the show, it's going to be packed. The venue is just a tiny bar. And the problem I have with it is that they cram so many people in there that 70% of the people can't see jack. There's basically no searing, and the show wasn't that great; it was pretty much a few acrobatic chicks wearing very little dancing. Ok for the price you pay with goldstar, but don't expect anything close to what the listed price would get you
Written on Mar 04 2012Worst show ever! I thought the show was taking place at a "hotel" so i figured there would be seats all around to accommodate the audience. Guess what?! Maybe 10 chairs and five tables total! So what does that mean?? Everyone has to stand up in a tiny little bar. The "stage" was ground level so you couldn't see a thing unless you were in front of the crowd. There was nothing sexy about the girls dancing. Don't waste your time or your money. The show started at 10:00 and we walked out at 10:15.
Written on Mar 03 2012The event was definitely a miss! It was way to crowded to see the dancers. My guest and I could not get to the bar for 20 min. The bartenders were overwhelmed and served up lipstick stained glasses. I definitely would not recommend this event to anyone. I wish I didn't pay $20 for the Tkts! It definite was not worth it!
Written on Mar 03 2012Very crowded. Performers did not always perform on stage so you could not see anything from the floor unless u were in front. I was kneeling on a bar stool and still could not see. Performers seemed talented of what I could see. Drinks were good since I purchased the tickets with the drinks. Other wise not worth it
Written on Mar 03 2012Very, very few seats. Very crowded. Free drinks, not too tasty and you cannot select any drink of choice. The entertainment was fair.
It was just ok.
Written on Mar 03 2012The 'stage' was in the booth once you walk in. There was no real stage. The performance was done on the floor which is the same level as anyone trying to watch. If you weren't standing directly in front of them - you couldn't see a thing.
The venue itself is a really cool place, but not for a show.
Written on Mar 02 2012Very bad setting of stage that next to exit, there were no space for people to walk in and out, felt so uncomfortable every minutes people were pushing me and my friend in order to walk thought...not enjoyable at all.
Written on Mar 02 2012Small bar. Hard to see. 20 min wait for drink.
Written on Mar 02 2012I thought this would be more of a classic style burlesque, and not a bunch of quasi punk rock chicks rolling around on the floor. There wasn't even a proper stage. The audience was basically a mob of people having to jockey for position. The drinks were watered down to the point of ridiculous. I could have gotten a stronger drink in an AC casino. I will not go back.
Written on Mar 02 2012The dancers were good but impossible to see as they were dancing on the floor of a very crowded and small bar area. Expect to stand, be jostled and spilled on. (There is close to no seating here and you wouldn't be able to see anyway.) VIP access means nothing except for the drink tickets which come with them. Crowd was mixed but predominantly 20-something.
Written on Feb 29 2012For the amount money its worth to get the VIP tickets, you get 2 drinks any type. the show is only an hour long, it went pretty fast but the performers were good. My group and I had fun. It's close to the train and easy to find. Get there early to get a good seat.
Written on Feb 26 2012The show wasn't a broadway show, obviously, but it was the perfect amount of entertainment in the perfect atmosphere. I suggest getting there a little early, and getting seats because some people who arrived later in the evening crowded around the bar. Otherwise, a lot of fun! Can take a date or a friend and even make a friend when you're there.
Written on Feb 25 2012Fun! A magic show with exotic dancing.
