Grand and uplifting, Les Misérables is a powerful affirmation of the human spirit and one of the most popular musicals of all time. La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts presents a brand-new production of this tale of passion and revolution in 19th-century France, which won seven Tony Awards on Broadway and was made into an Oscar-nominated film. Ex-convict Jean Valjean's struggle for redemption and the young, innocent love of his adopted daughter Cosette and the student Marius are set against the tumultuous backdrop of the French Revolution. It's a celebration of the human struggle for love, justice and happiness in the face of hardship, carried forward on a gorgeous score, including the beloved songs "I Dreamed a Dream," "Do You Hear the People Sing?" and more. The script was cute, the performance and the food -- OK. However, the venue was dirty, with gnats flying around. The ladies' room looked as if it hadn't been cleaned in a long time, and light bulbs were burned out or missing in the mirror lighting. The cocktail service was incompetent, and table settings were incomplete, though the actors/waiters fixed things cheerfully and in character during the dinner service. This was a lot of money for an amateur performance and subpar venue.
Your ticket includes a three-course dinner (New York steak with mushrooms or grilled chicken breast), coffee, hot tea and applicable taxes. Beer, wine, sodas and gratuities are separate.
The event runs between 2 and 3 hours.
About the Ticket Supplier: The Gourmet Detective
We are first and foremost a theater company. A company of players, all responsible for pleasing our guests, to have fun that is funny, to engage our audience in a non-threatening fashion, and above all to tell a story. We believe in the story.
It is our quest to provide a setting where the audience and performers can, together, abandon their status and inhibitions and venture into a realm of play, imagination and fantasy.
A broad and plentiful supply of emotional experiences for the audience. Each audience member feeling welcome, safe, on the "inside" and in touch with the characters. The audience laughs a lot, is surprised by the events of the evening, is stimulated by the physical appearance of everything related to the mystery, and, most of all, the audience feels empathetic to the characters; as well as fear, love, and hatred. The tension between characters draws the audience into the mystery.
Our passion is entertaining; to transform, stimulate, and to engage an audience to the extent that they take a leap of faith and imagination from the beginning and participate in not just the telling of the story, but in the totality of the experience.
