With Vive La France, this unique violin octet celebrates French speaking culture around the globe. The Hutchins Consort performs on eight scaled violins from the tiny treble violin, tuned one octave above the standard violin, to the large bass violin, tuned one octave lower than a cello. This broad palette of instruments helps the ensemble produce an astonishing range. This program will feature the world premiere of Bataillie's Trout Swimming Upstream, Boieldieu Harp Concerto, featuring Elena Mashkovtseva, Ravel's Tzigane Pavane for a Dead Princess and an array of Haitian and Tahitian songs that will transport you to the islands.

This group continues to excel, this was a very engaging concert, exciting, challenging and, yes, toe tapping. From Tahitian music to Charles Mingus and Django Rhinehart. Don't miss this group the next time they are performing.Written on Mar 06 2012

This concert was a special with the exciting Ravel
selections played with passion. The harpist was so good. I enjoy the venue... good parking, clean comfortable. Also the daytime hour has dappled sunlight adding to the pleasant visuals. Excellent

About the Ticket Supplier: Hutchins Consort
The Hutchins Consort plays on the eight scaled violins of the violin octet designed and built by famed luthier Dr. Carleen Hutchins. The instruments are the first successful attempt to create an acoustically balanced set of instruments that can sound truly like violins across the entire range of written music. With instruments ranging from the tiny treble violin, tuned one octave above the standard violin, to the gigantic large bass violin, tuned one octave lower than a 'cello, the Hutchins Consort produces an astonishing palette of sounds.
