The Colonial Chorus Players present Urinetown: The Musical, a hilarious and satirical tale of greed, corruption, love and revolution in a time when water is worth its weight in gold. When a terrible water shortage leads to a government ban on private toilets in a Gotham-like city, a malevolent company profits by charging admission for one of humanity's most basic needs. Ultimately a hero decides he's had enough and plans a revolution. The show's tuneful and irreverent score gives a nod to musicals from Broadway to Brecht and Weill. Urinetown's original Broadway production ran for nearly 1,000 performances and earned Tony Awards for Best Original Musical Score and Best Book of a Musical.

Instead of this being a well-performed satire, the actors seemed to ham up nearly every line. The comedic timing was off. The singing was overdone and often shrill. I tried to like this production of Urinetown but in the end, the only things that were remarkable were the set, props, costumes and the actors who played Bobby Strong and Lock Stock.
