In celebration of the Jewish High Holy Days, SpeakeasyDC and the DCJCC present Atonement: Stories About Confession, Redemption and Making Amends. Six "morally challenged" individuals tell true stories about how they held themselves accountable for their mistakes and wrongdoings. The speakers scheduled to appear are Barney Shapiro, Harold Sharlin, Hannah Goldstein, Katy Barrett, Suzette Tanen and LY Marlow. SpeakeasyDC has been presenting the best programs showcasing the art of storytelling since 1997. Named the "gold standard" in storytelling by the Washington Post, they were nominated for the 2012 DC Mayor's Arts Awards for Innovation in the Arts. Learn More
Parking is NOT free for shows at the Levine School of Music, but is free for the Strathmore. Confusing and disappointing.Percussionists Manny Arciniega and Adam Green: Unknown Voices travel • May 08 2014 star this tip starred
Leave home early, even if you live close. At this time of year and time of evening, Rockville Pike and other roads are usually bumper-to-bumper, plus the line to get into the parking lot (from Rockville Pike onto Tuckerman Lane, (vs. where you enter for the Mansion, despite the posted road sign), is one lane, also bumper to bumper. Parking is free but another challenge still lies ahead with long waits for elevators in the parking garage, transversing the long, elevated corrider between the parking lot and the venue, and additional elevators with long lines inside the venue, which take you to the level of your assigned seats (there is an elevator operator checking tickets and telling individuals if they're on the correct elevator, etc.). If you're not familiar with this whole scenario, best to leave a trail of breadcrumbs from your parking space to your seat, assuming there are no birds in sight. : \A Candlelight Christmas travel • Dec 24 2013 star this tip starred
