The Music Center at Strathmore is the site for the US debut of the renowned La Scala Philharmonic. Conducted in the past by such legendary figures as Claudio Abbado (its founder), Lorin Maazel, and Wolfgang Sawallisch, the orchestra is now in the hands of Riccardo Chailly, who the Irish Times calls "a first-class interpreter of Italian repertoire." They'll play works by Rossini, Respighi, and Rota.

Don’t miss the long-awaited D.C.-area debut of the La Scala Philharmonic. Led by the charismatic Riccardo Chailly, the ensemble plays beloved works and classic Italian repertoire. Founded in 1982 by conductor Claudio Abbado, the orchestra has since been led by such renowned directors as Lorin Maazel and Wolfgang Sawallisch.
