For Mozart and Mendelssohn, the celebrated wunderkinds, the works composed in their twenties and thirties are fully mature. The Scottish Symphony was inspired by Mendelssohn’s travels in Scotland, while the Overture to The Marriage of Figaro opened the daring opera that so infuriated the Emperor.
Mozart: Overture to The Marriage of Figaro
Mozart: Piano Concerto No. 20
Mendelssohn: Symphony No. 3, “Scottish”
