More Details

The Musical Adventures of Flat Stanley follows the story of Stanley Lambchop—the globe-trotting hero of elementary school kids everywhere (and recently flattened by a falling bulletin board)—who gets stamped and posted to South Africa, Mexico, Russia, England, China and beyond. And wherever Stanley goes, he meets new friends, learns about different cultures through song and dance, and closes in on his goal of being a three-dimensional boy again. Appropriate for ages 5 and up.

Based on the popular children’s book series by author Jeff Brown, with illustrations by Scott Nash, The Musical Adventures of Flat Stanley brings this beloved character to a new generation of families through song, dance and the spectacle of live theater.  Adapted for the stage by book writer Tim McDonald (book writer for The Kennedy Center’s recent Willy Wonka tour) and composer/lyricist, Bryan Louiselle (fresh from adapting Disney’s High School Musical for the stage), this team brings Flat Stanley to life. “Our goal was not only to tell the story of how Stanley became flat, but to show the rich experiences open to him by being different,” reflects McDonald.

Today, Flat Stanley has never been more popular. Recent appearances include Oprah, as a guest of Arnold Schwarzenegger’s on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, and a visit to the White House with President Bush, the first lady and the first dogs.  Flat Stanley has also made cameos on The West Wing, ER, The Daily Show, and with Clint Eastwood at the Academy Awards.
