Art, by provocative playwright Yasmina Reza (God of Carnage), focuses on three men whose 15-year friendship is tested when one of them buys an expensive modern painting that appears to be just a completely white canvas. They each have different reactions to the piece and differing opinions on art. As the argument moves from aesthetics to something deeper, this witty and insightful comedy explores the extent to which our identities are shaped by our social circle, and reveals how deep friendships can be shaken up by the most unexpected events. Art picked up a Tony Award for Best Play in 1998. Learn More
“This show marks our fifth year as a company, and we are so proud to still be doing one act festivals that produce new material from writers all over the country. From spoofs to dramas, this year’s festival will prove to be an eclectic and entertaining show,” Erica Brauer, president of Above the Curve Theatre.
About the Ticket Supplier: Above the Curve Theatre
Above The Curve, founded May 2006, in Los Angeles, CA, is a women-driven, actor-derived, nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering female artists and strengthening our community.
Above The Curve Theatre provides a fun and safe environment for artists to cultivate new and current talents. All members are encouraged to write, act, produce and direct, and, while our primary creative outlet is the theatre, we encourage all of our members to explore every medium of the entertainment industry. Our goal is to develop versatile artists capable of creating more dynamic work for women and tackling the most challenging roles.
At the same time, Above The Curve Theatre strives to provide the community with professional productions held to the highest standards of excellence. Through the awesome power of the performing arts, the ensemble hopes to educate and entertain, but it does not stop there, members are also encouraged to give back to our community through group sponsored charity events and outreach programs.
