Baby tells the story of three couples as they deal with the universally painful, rewarding and agonizingly funny consequences of expecting a baby: college students in their twenties, barely adults themselves; thirty-somethings, having trouble conceiving but determined to try; and middle-aged parents, looking forward to seeing their youngest child graduate from college -- until a night of passion lands them right back where they started.

...so the director said to Donald Rumsfeld "we have a problem...only two of the players in the cast can sing...what do we do??." and Rumsfeld replied..."you don't put a musical production with the cast you wish you had but the ones we're stuck with...so...tell them to wing it and imagine they're singing in the shower"....so the director replied "should we turn a shower on"....

The musical was very well written - the musical score by David Shire was the whole show as far as I'm concerned. The melodies stuck out throughout the entire musical with beautiful chord changes & flowing melodies all along. The lyrics fit well for what was happening in the story line, but the performers singing abilities suffered! It would have been a huge success with the right voices. I agree with the other "write-ups" regarding the actors not being able to sing.

The two actors (Luise & Lloyd) who played the older couple (Arlene & Alan) who found out they were going to have a baby in their later years, were the most believable in their roles. I would give them 4 stars.

I thoroughly enjoyed the music - it was what made the play/musical for me.

Of the twelve performers only two could sing. I would have rather sat at a dentist chair. We left at intermission. Only stayed that long as we did not want to be rude. Very painful to hear and watch. The sad part, was if it was not a musical it probably would have been OK. But every few minutes another song. I wish I had earplugs!!!

Actors could not project or should have had mics; acting was o.k but you would not rush out to tell anyone you have to see this.
