Moving Drama Edith Stein Captures the Redemptive Quality of Faith

This stirring and passionate theater production by Arthur Giron is set within the context of a controversial Catholic convent that was established outside the gates of Auschwitz in the 1980s. Based on the true story of Edith Stein, who was martyred at Auschwitz, this is a gripping play about the power of faith, family, religious tolerance, mutual respect and the remarkable triumph of the human spirit. Stein was a prominent Jewish intellectual in Germany during the lead-up to Hitler's reign of terror who eventually converted to Catholicism and left the world behind to devote her life to prayer for the Jewish people and her nation in the midst of the Nazi horrors. But life in the convent would not last for long. This play tells the story of Stein's heroic struggle and the stand she took against the greatest evil of her time. Learn More

Very cute, kept me laughing and was a pleasant evening. Loved the actors, thought all of them were well cast. Loved the songs, the lyrics were hysterical, and went well with the script. Will recommend.Written on Feb 16 2010

Went to see it Sunday afternoon with 3 girlfriends, all young seniors. It was entertaining, a lot of the songs brought back memories of people in my life. Singers were in fine form and fun to watch. Would recommend it. It was open seating, so suggest you get there earlier than show time to get a center seat. Very casual, parking in the lot behind the theatre and street parking. First time at El Portal and North Hollywood area.Written on Feb 22 2010
