This was a guys worst nightmare! But even if I was a girl, there was a lot of junk clothing. I guess all the VIPs took all of the good stuff since they get to go in early. I brought a portable TV/Radio that was working and some un-worn shoes so I thought I would find similar stuff in return. Not a chance! I was impressed with the concept, thought - because the only winner is the person creating the event! Sorry, I'll give my stuff next time to the Vets of America.

I was disappointed in the poor quality of many of the clothing items. A lot of it was junk, very worn, much-washed, faded, etc. I didn't find much for myself at all. I "donated" some really good stuff, including a Nordstrom jacket that had barely been worn, a quilted vest also barely worn, etc. and didn't find much of that quality. I'm not really wild about the free-for-all format, I guess. Would I attend again? No.

I've been to clothing swaps before and this one was nothing like the others. The clothing was mostly old, faded, outdated and unwearable. Maybe set a standard on what can be brought to your swap. It wasn't fair to those of us that brought newer nicer items. It was also a mad house with people grabbing and pushing. Practically everything was gone within the first 45 minutes. Volunteers also were given first choice on everything and picked all the good items before putting out the rest. Very unfair and disappointing. Maybe set a limit on how many items volunteers can take for themselves prior to the swap.

Such a SMART and FUN way to get things "re-used". I love the concept. Was glad to participate. These should happen way more often!!!

It would have been nice if there had been more space, more tables, to get things spread out. Also, the VIP folks should have a kind of limit, as one guy grabbed ALL of the DVDs before anyone else got to even see them. Pretty rude.

Overall, a great event. Good people, good stuff. We got a very nice coat for my boyfriend and a cute little shirt for my neighbor's kid.

Description

Admission is $5 if you bring swappables, which need to be dropped off at 10:00am. Admission is $10 if you come empty-handed and admission time is 1:00pm.

VIP tickets include a front-of-the-line pass, a copy of the Free Fun LA guidebook and other perks.

The Frugal Festival is at the NoHo PAC this year, a hip new venue on Magnolia just east of Lankershim in North Hollywood. NoHo PAC is surrounded by restaurants, thrift stores, and theaters so there is plenty to do in the hour after you drop off your swappables but before the swap begins. Here is how the day will go:

10:00am – Noon: Drop off clothes, media, and housewares to swap and get your free reusable bag and free raffle ticket.

Noon – 1:00pm: Feel free to grab a coffee, browse thrift stores, get a bite to eat, have your nails done at nearby businesses.

1:00pm – 3:00pm: Swap!

Swapping clothes and other gently used items is the trendiest way to spend time with friends; recycling clothing, home goods & media for "new to you" items and making the most of a down economy.
