One of tap's most enduring stars bringing his sophisticated footwork, wonderful songs and charming on-stage personality to Monroe Forum Theatre at El Portal. A regular for 18 years on the wildly popular The Lawrence Welk Show, Arthur Duncan is credited with bringing the art form of tap to a new medium, allowing Americans across the nation to experience tap dance in their own homes. Over the years, he's also appeared on Diagnosis Murder, Columbo, The Phil Donahue Show and the movie Tap starring Gregory Hines and Sammy Davis Jr. The legendary song and dance man still dazzles with his incomparable showmanship and timeless style. It is a very interesting play. Not what you think it is going to be at all. Yes, "Marilyn" is in the play. She is the catalyst for the action but really takes a backseat to the main character who is terrific. This is a character driven play. The narrative is so strong you can easily see the action. The first act moves at a decent pace but it is the second act that really takes off and sets up the ironic twist to the conclusion. It will give you something to think about for the ride home.
