I am an avid playgoer and have experienced my fair share of of small independent venues and productions and have a keen understanding of the how these venues work. I arrived at the play early, when the doors opened for seating the waiting crowd filled the room. After every single seat was filled in the small theater the staff began filling the (only) narrow aisle (and only exit) with folding chairs. There was not a single aisle left open.
I understand accommodating guest who have purchased tickets but the play was so uncomfortable for the entire audience and the actors who had to make do with minimal space due to the flooding chairs on the stage and in their path.
The writing itself was funny though it felt as though it had been done before. Too many scenes had long pauses that were filled only with the thumping music from next door. About half of the actors were amazing, the others were average no one was terrible.
Maybe they were just having a bad night, it was like watching a rehearsal, I would not recommend this show to a friend.
