Some plays can be summed up in an image, others a phrase, but only one masterpiece can be summarized with a scream: "Stelllaaa!!!" That masterpiece, of course, is A Streetcar Named Desire, the Pulitzer-winning drama by Tennessee Williams, which was famously adapted into a feature film featuring Marlon Brando and Vivien Leigh. Set during a steamy summer in New Orleans' French Quarter, a vulnerable Blanche DuBois seeks shelter at the apartment of her pregnant sister Stella and Stella's husband Stanley. Fragile Blanche and brutish Stanley immediately clash, and tensions only escalate when the two are left alone in the house after Stella heads to the hospital to give birth. The Group Rep presents A Streetcar Named Desire directed by L. Flint Esquerra. Learn More

A terrific production all the way around: Excellent acting, well-written script, great set and costumes. Appropriate for kids 12 and over, but not one of those kiddie-holiday productions; the play works equally well for us jaded, cynical adults, as it tells a witty, heart-warming story of human compassion overcoming all. Go see it now!
