This compelling drama follows the extraordinary true story of Cherokee native Major Ridge over a 50-year period as he rose from humble beginnings to become a wealthy land owner and an eventual architect in one of the most crippling decisions to face Native Americans. Writer Art Shulman tackles the complex issues of the times during which Ridge lived, and the gut-wrenching choice of selling Cherokee lands to the U.S. government in order to save his people -- a decision that led to the Trail of Tears and the deaths of thousands of Ridge's people. Not One More Foot of Land! is a gripping production that attempts to answer the tricky question of whether Ridge was a savior, traitor or someone caught in the middle

My husband and I really enjoyed No More Foot of Land at the Secret Rose Theatre. The acting and music was wonderful. We especially liked the perfornance of the actor who played Major Ridge.Written on Feb 13 2012

This was a well-intentioned story, apparently written to inform about the plight of the Cherokee. To me it seemed very amateurishly done, except for the two main characters. Neither costumes, nor music, nor dance steps seemed very authentic. Too many historical details were hampering the dramatic flow. The play was far too long given the poor quality. Tightened up it might make a decent teaching tool for junior high. There was one beautiful, memorable image: the dancing eagles. G.H.Written on Mar 16 2012

The show is a very powerful drama. There are a few humorous comments at the beginning of the show. However be prepared for a serious play. The cast is very convincing in each of their roles in the telling of events leading up to the Trail of Tears. They all played their parts with ease and with confidence. Joseph Runningfox was especially strong in the lead as Major Ridge. The show is very moving and brought my wife to tears toward the end of the show. The stage has few props. The sound effects and lighting are also minimal.Written on Mar 12 2012
This was probably by design. This also puts the pressure on the cast to carry the show, which they deliver.
