Buried Child: Sam Shepard's Pulitzer-Winning Family Drama

Full Price:
$20.00 - $45.00
Our Price:
$10.00 - $22.50

Set during the rural economic slowdown of the 1970s, playwright Sam Shepard's universally acclaimed Buried Child resonates as strongly today as it did when it launched Shepard's career in 1978. A Pulitzer winner for drama, Buried Child makes for a fierce, forceful and unforgettable portrayal of the realities of the American Dream. The realistic masterpiece mixes comedy and drama, keen commentary and deep emotion in a squalid farm home occupied by a clan filled with suppressed violence, apparent unhappiness and dark secrets. Kenneth Kelleher directs this San Jose Stage Company production. Learn More

This was a wonderful show....We really enjoyed it! The venue was wonderful. The only comment is that the actors should make eye contact with the audience in the first few rows.

This was really, really, really painful to watch and hear. What where these people thinking? Wayland Pickard is credited with Composing, Lyrics and Directing. His "full page" bio says, "look for him in his one man show on Broadway in 2010." WHAT?!?!?!!?!? I hardly think you can direct your way out of a wet bag. I see you have some Awards to your name but, if this is any indication of what those awards stand for, I'm totally mystified at how & why. The cast, well, don't quit your day jobs. BAD, BAD, BAD!!!!! PS, for a sold out night you could put a little more money than $4.00 in your set from a "party store". WOW, what a waste of time.

We enjoyed this light musical comedy. The songs were fun and we the characters of Peggy and Carl the most.

I can probably sum up my experience with these words: "I think I missed something." I probably missed the 70's. My fellow theater patrons were hooting and laughing while I sat there asking myself, "is the acting supposed to be this campy" and I think it is. As a diversion, a night out, an alternative to fake-reality TV, I would endorse this play 100% - but I would rather see a play I really, really like twice or three times if given the choice.

More Information About Polyester: The Musical

Description

The story about The Synchronistics, an over-the-hill ABBA wannabe group who reunite to perform at a public access tv station telethon.
It was 1979 and The Synchronistics were big. Johnny Carson big. Their hit single, "Better Together," rose to #2 on the charts. Then something terrible happened that drove the group apart. Now, twenty years later, they're back together to perform at the WKLN public access TV station telethon. Will they overcome their differences, act professionally and help save WKLN from going under? Probably not. But, you never know what to expect when this dysfunctional group gets together.

With 16 original '70s songs including "The Funk Train" and "Bump Your Booty Rump."
