An amazing evening with a real American treasure. Rip Taylor lets is toupee down, he really does take it off, as he tells his life story. The show is wonderful, poignant and hilarious. A true labor of love. After the show Rip came out and met, hugged, took pictures with and talked to every single person there. It was joyous. Rip made us all feel like his old friends.

It's all there. The timing, the sillines, the pathos, the grit. And of course, as Rip says,"The fun"! I had a wonderful time.

Absolutely wonderful show. Rip has always been, and remains a true character. What an incredible journey he takes us on as he unfolds his prolific life story. This is a man who worked and earned his way to the top. In the current entertainment climate where unknowns become overnight stars (mostly with no talent to back it up), it is a joy to sit down an listen to a person who really has a LIFE story. I only have two criticisms: I wished he had slowed down at the beginning of his story, and I wished he had given us a timeline by telling us the actual year each event happened. Ater the show he was understandably tired, but stayed to take a photo with each and every person in the audience. What a class act. Rip, "You Win the Prize!"

Just the funniest and most poignant show!! He tells the story, his story, from childhood, his big break, friends, good times and not-so-good times...
It is too bad more people don't know what a talented actor he is as well as a very funny man! As others stated, he is gracious to his audience after a grueling performance for any actor, let alone someone telling his own emotional story. More than worth the price and the seats are AWE-SOME!!!

Wonderful show. Fast 90 minutes -- too fast!! No intermission which made sense as the show flowed better that way. Can not get a bad seat in the theatre. Rip was fantastic. A great evening.

A highly enjoyable show from the zany funny man Rip Taylor. I would recommend this show to any R T fan, but don't expect the show to be pure hilarity as Rip shares his lifetime experiences with the audience. It provides a profile as to how he became the man and entertainer he is. Certainly some surprises so what are you waiting for silly?

VERY funny show, and also lots of great show business stories about old Hollywood. Rip's jokes are still the best, and no one has his delivery. THe show also goes over some of his life events, and he throws in lots of comedy along the way. HIGHLY enjoyable. DO NOT MISS IT! Also, we took the subway to the North Hollywood station, 2 minutes walk to the EL Portal Theater, how convenient and easy!

What an AMAZING show. I didn't really know what to expect. I knew him from Sig the sea monster and Chatterbox but did not realize the magnitude of his career. What a great story, wonderful show and well spent afternoon. Thanks to the El Portal for encouraging him to share his story in this way. Bravo!

An amazing 90 minute show that it extremely funny, fascinating, and poignant. Rip Taylor has had an amazing life and shares it with you in a riveting performance. You might even walk away with some food for thought that might make you re-evaluate how you look at life (we did). After the show, Rip comes out to the waiting entrance to the theater and introduces any celebrity that might have been in the audience and if you are not a known celebrity, he certainly will make you feel like one as well. Simply wonderful!

Full house event on Sat night; smaller room in the theater so all seats are close to Rip. Rip is a very interesting character. Enjoyed the stories and laughed at his humor. He displays a full range of emotions and he describes some of the low points in his life. Overall very good. Only complaint was that there was another event occuring at the theater on the same night and I could hear the bass coming through the walls-- a little rude of the theater.

Poignant and Moving. RIP is the Best. Don't miss this opportunity to see one of the great comedians at such a wonderful venue. The only way to enjoy this performance is in this intimate setting. All of the emotion is there to be enjoyed by the audience. We had a terrific night out. Funny, Real, What a Performance.

Went on Thurs eve. Could sit anywhere. Wish there had been more people there. Rip did a little bit of his shtick at the beginning, but then pulled the toupe off and got more serious. Told about his life and how he got started which I found interesting. Some of the stuff from his childhood was sad.Got a much different picture of the man than what we are used to seeing. I would recommend it at Goldstar prices.

The first 10-15 minutes I laughed harder than I have in ages reliving Rip's antics. What followed was 90 minutes of poignant, funny stories that counted for even more laughs and an evening of joy.

Rip Taylor has earned the right to tell his story--warts and all, and he does a marvelous job of it at the El Portal Theatre. He opens with about 15 minutes of routine and then launches into a retelling of the journey he has made---and what fun, fascinating stories he has to tell. He then rewards the audience with a meet-and-greet afterwards. I have a new-found respect for Mr. Taylor and hope he has sell out houses for the remainder of the run!

Fantastic, intimate performance from showbiz legend Rip Taylor. Beginning with a heavy dose of the rapid fire vaudevillian comedy that made him famous, Taylor transitions into an unexpectedly poignant account of his life. The show is peppered throughout with Taylor's trademark humor, and loaded with tales of encounters with celebrities ranging from Jackie Gleason to Demi Moore. Highly recommended!

Rip's performance was AMAZING! He did not dissapoint as he took us down the path of his life and the beginnings of his lengthy comedy career. He even shares with the audience how the whole thing with the confetti got started. The standing ovation that he received at the end of his performance was well deserved!
