Set in the mid-1950s, this comedy was the basis for a film starring Katharine Hepburn and Spencer Tracy. The story centers on a highly efficient staff of researchers nestled comfortably in a major broadcasting company--that is, until another department installs a computer system. Anxiety multiplies when an efficiency expert is sent in to determine if there's a need for a similar computer in their department.

When the show begain in the first act it was rather slow and we hoped it would pick up soon.
The second and third act certainly kept our interest. The acting and sets were excellent. We particularly loved the background music and music during the intermissions. We had a great time and if it had continued we would recommend it to our friends.

I brought my parents to see this play. It was well written and had great production value... but the comic timing could have greatly benifitted from an audience. So go, and bring all your friends and family. It's fun, romantic, and family safe.

Very cute play. The theater is small and cozy and the folks who run the theater are very friendly.

More Information About The Desk Set

Description

The 1956 play The Desk Set was the basis for the 1957 feature film version from 20th Century Fox, starring Katharine Hepburn and Spencer Tracy.

Set in the mid-1950s, the story is centered on a highly efficient and very human staff of researchers (hence the play's title) nestled comfortably in a major broadcasting company--that is, until the installation of a computer system named Emmarac in another department. Adding to the anxiety of this news is an efficiency expert, sent in to determine whether or not there is a need for a similar computer in their department!
