Affairs Afloat presents its popular Tropicana Fridays Cruise. A live DJ plays a hot mix of Top 40 and dance music hits to keep the crowd moving. It all happens during a three-hour cruise (but music starts a full hour earlier, at the dock) down the Hudson River and through New York's famous harbor, with spectacular views of the Statue of Liberty and the Manhattan skyline. There's a cash bar and buffet, and an enclosed, climate-controlled dance floor provides the perfect space to get down, relax and unwind -- rain or (moon)shine. Learn More

This cruise was ok. My favorite part was looking at the NYC lights. The Salsa DJ was not good at all. There are TONS for good salsa songs old school and new that could have lasted the whole boat ride. Instead he played random songs and even repeated a few. Not Good!!!!Written on Nov 23 2010
Downstairs was more hip hop American music. It was hot, dark and sweaty down there.
I think we would have had a much better time if the music was better. And what is up with the reserved table service? And the $4 small bottle of water....outrageous!
It was an ok time but I'm sure there are better parties out there.

Nothing glamourous...Less then what my party expected. Was a bit disappointed with this event for it is labeled a Salsa Cruise. Top 40 took up the main floor and "Salsa" or better said Latin music was placed in the lower smaller level which is where the buffet also takes place and with doors closed is pretty hot. Luckily they open the doors half way through the cruise making it tolerable. The name should be changed for only a handful of Salsa songs were played and the versions of songs chosen were not censored and bafflingly vulgar. I will say its for a younger crowd since its a bit ghetto since dress code is not really enforced and the boat had little to be desired in regards to being fancy. Yet people of all ages attend. We made the best of it and the cruise was pleasant addition as well.Written on Oct 17 2011

Crowd and DJ were great! Food was $10 and it was a large portion so it was worth the price! Drinks were $10 and Coat Check was $3, Overall it was a good event and will attend again in the future!!Written on Oct 17 2010

Too crowded, no mention of life vests/boats. I am an avid old school salsera. Did not attend school to learn. Comes from the beat of heart. You have to feel it and master it. My feet were stepped on by "Salsa School Dancers". What happened to the old school salsa dancing where you remained in your space and did not get wounded feet/toes. When I got home there was caked blood on 2 of my toes from being stepped on by spiked heels! Drinks were too ridiculously priced. Perhaps more for a younger crowd...Disappointed would not attend again.Written on Oct 13 2010
