Based on the playwright's life and considered one of Arthur Miller's most personal plays, After The Fall follows a man on his quest to make peace with his own history and with the tumultuous world around him. This experimental portrait of a man struggling with the choices he has made in his public and private life examines the personal, political and universal forces that collide when we "fall" from innocence. Following the death of his second wife, Quentin tries to move forward, but he must also relive childhood losses, failed marriages and the effects of the 1950s' Blacklist. This rarely produced classic is presented by the HumanArts Theater Company. Learn More

It was well-acted and a nice period piece with Mayslake providing a wonderful setting for this play. It also had some very humorous moments in it.Written on Oct 06 2008

I loved the space. The theatre was beautiful. it was the perfect setting for the play. However, I was a little disappointed in the production. I would have liked to see a little more imagination used with the lighting and the effects. Even though true to the original script I believe a presence could have been better felt with shadows and the use of windows and more imaginative lighting. During this play you should feel the ominous presence of the Count and I didn't feel that he was constantly watching or waiting to pounce. The actor that played Count Dracula, even though very attractive, was just a little stiff. I didn't feel the charisma or particularly drawn to him. I should have felt a loss when he entered or left the stage and I felt very little. I am quite familiar with this play and was a little disappointed. I didn't feel the passion or connection of the characters and the production, however wonderful the set may have been, left me wanting just a bit. I recommend seeing this version if you've never seen the original play before but if you ar expecting chills maybe this isn't the event to see.Written on Oct 04 2008

Very good production. Beautiful setting inside an old church. The actors were good, the actresses okay. This was a very appropriate production for the season. I really liked the stage set. I wish I could have that in my own home. What was really a nice touch was hot tea and cookies during the intermission. Also, there was an art show going on at the time so we were able to walk around and see the paintings while sipping our tea. This was a very good value for your money. I will definitely go back.Written on Oct 10 2008
