Funny Girl revolves around Ziegfeld comedienne Fanny Brice and her rise to fame in the early '20s. Told mostly in flashbacks, the musical shows her from the start as a gawky Brooklyn teen, fast-talking her way into show business and her first triumph in the Zeigfeld Follies, to becoming the toast of New York, to the unraveling of her personal life and marriage to gangster Nick Arnstein.

It's Gilbert & Sullivan like you've never seen them before! This 1940s-style update of The Mikado takes place in the mythical village of Titi-Pu, where a young rocker is on the run from his overeager fiancée and searching for the woman who stole his heart. This snappy adaptation of a classic operetta includes musical styles ranging from jazz to swing to gospel to blues -- including a show-stopping homage to the Andrews Sisters. Learn More

I liked the production but the idea that these two people were poison for each other really didn't come through very well. I never saw the movie version but I have seen Streisand sing "People" and this actress could really belt out the songs, very similar to Streisand.

I enjoyed the show. The actress who played Fanny Brice got stronger as the show went on. It was very enjoyable and the seats were good.

Fabulous show and Fanny Brice had an incredible voice! Was so looking forward to finale song "My Man" that just tops off. Funny Girl.....but they left it out! I kept saying 'wait! That's it?!'

Funny Girl is a musical with a book by Isobel Lennart, music by Jule Styne, and lyrics by Bob Merrill. The semi-biographical plot is based on the life and career of Broadway, film star and comedienne Fanny Brice and her stormy relationship with entrepreneur and gambler Nicky Arnstein.
The musical was produced by Ray Stark, who was Brice's son-in-law via his marriage to her daughter Frances, and starred Barbra Streisand. The production was nominated for eight Tony Awards but, facing tough competition from Hello, Dolly!, it failed to win in any categories.
