Glitzy venue worthy of Vegas. Very funny comedy, on a realistic topic. Lead actor, Bernie Yvon, was an understudy for Donny Osmond in 'Joseph ...Dreamcoat'. Lasts about 2 3/4 hours, including 1/4 hour intermission. Large cast.

I was a very enjoyable play.

THIS PLAY WAS VERY ENJOYABLE. THE ACTING WAS EXCELLENT AND THE SCRIPT INVOLVED A REAL LIFE SITUATION ALL OF US CAN RELATE TO. MY WIFE & I RECOMMEND THIS PLAY.

It was a very funny musical. The songs were good. It was fun to see a musical that was very funny. After all it is based on the Neil Simon Play.

This was one of the best plays that I have seen in a long time. The actors were fabulous. Very enjoyable. Would love to see it again. I told all my friends about it.

I DIDN'T ENJOY THE FIRST ACT OF "THE GOODBYE GIRL" AT ALL. ACT II WAS MILDLY ENTERTAINING. HOWEVER, OUR SEATS WERE FANTASTIC!!

It was a typically perky musical that was quite well-acted.

I JUST WANTED SAY THANK YOU...
THE SHOW WAS SUPER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
MR BRAVO

Excellent show and very funny.

Our first time at this absolutely beautiful theater, not a bad seat in the house. However, my fears that this movie would not translate very well into a theater production were confirmed. The actors were great and what a terrifice stage, but the music numbers were not memorable. I will return again for plays that I know have been hits.

It was well done! The story ended on a positive note the couple getting married. The cast was fantastic!
I would see it again.

This was superb! So well done. Everyone was good in this play but the actor and the role of Elliott was the BEST! My husband and I had a great time. See it!

It was wonderful-good, clean, upbeat, and refreshing! I have never been to Drury Lane and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Singing and dancing-awesome!

It was cute. Theatre was half filled and we were told we could move to any unused seats. Many people left at the end of the 1st half.

My husband and I loved the play - and the seats were great!

I took my husband as a Valentine's Day surprise and he LOVED IT TOO! The theatre is spectacular, easily accesible and parking was not an issue so over-all the experience was GREAT! Hope to find another opportunity to go back to Drury Lane Oakbrook.

The modern romantic comedy, The Goodbye Girl is now running at Drury Lane Oakbrook Terrace Theatre. The Goodbye Girl, with book by Neil Simon, music by Marvin Hamlisch (“A Chorus Line”), and lyrics by David Zippel (“City of Angels”) is based on the 1977 Oscar winning film of the same name that starred Marsha Mason and Richard Dreyfuss. The Goodbye Girl will be directed by Drury Lane Producer Gary Griffin (The Color Purple). Award winning scenic designer Brian Sydney Bembridge will be designing the set.

This musical turns the film comedy into an adventure about love and commitment. Single mother Paula (Susan Moniz), has to share her absent boyfriend’s New York apartment with Elliot (Bernie Yvon), an egotistical and opinionated struggling actor. They fall in love, which alarms her twelve year old daughter, Lucy, who is scared that Elliot, like all of Paula’s boyfriends, will dump her mother – causing yet another example of “The Goodbye Girl” syndrome. The Goodbye Girl features the same humor that has made Neil Simon the most popular playwright in Broadway history.

The film was made into a musical in 1993 starring Bernadette Peters and Martin Short on Broadway. Produced at the Marquis Theatre in New York, the production received a nomination for the 1993 Tony Award® for Best Musical, as well as a slew of other nominations: Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Choreography, and Best Direction. It went on to receive three Drama Desk nominations for Outstanding Actor, Music, and Lyrics.
