Who says cows can't type? Have we ever given them the opportunity? Farmer Brown's cows are c-c-c-cold. They'd like cozy electric blankets to keep warm. But how to tell him? Eureka! They discover an old typewriter in the barn, and start sending him notes. Farmer Brown finds the click clack of the typewriter annoying, but doesn't take it seriously ... until he finds this rebellious note posted on the barn door: "Sorry. We're closed. No milk today." How will the barnyard peace be restored? Find out in James E. Grote's delightful musical adaptation of the Caldecott Honor Book by Doreen Cronin. Erin Merritt directs. Your ticket includes all-day admission to Fairyland, so make it a special outing the whole family will remember.

I think if the kids already know the story, it's going to be a much better experience (we have read the book so many times in the past that our 2 1/2 knew the characters) The singing parts were delightful. We enjoyed the show. The Goldstar price was worth it.

Fun, well done, affordable and our kids enjoyed Children's Fairyland beforehand.

The performers really gave this 100% of their effort and enthusiasm. Great singing, dancing, and storyline.

It was a little too long for my ~2yr old so we had to leave after ~50mins. Not sure how much longer the play would be - it only seemed half way through though.

This was a good show for kids older than our 2.5 year old. He still enjoyed much of it, and paid attention through the whole thing, but was also scared during parts of it. Very progressive politics was a plus, but it went on longer than we had assumed. I'd suggest it to other parents, but if your kid is younger than maybe 3, you might have to narrate it a bit...

Charming, creative, good experience for my three year-old. My only suggestion is that it was a bit long for these little ones.

This show ended on August 5, 2012. We were really disappointed to have tickets for a show that ended six days earlier.

This was such an enjoyable show. Both my daughters (4 year old and 1 year old) absolutely loved it. It's so nice to find great things to do where both are entertained. Good job to all the actors!

My youngest children (age 2 and 6) have enjoyed reading the picture book so they were enthralled by this show. The music was playful, the actors seemed genuine and enthusiastic, and theatre itself was very nice as open air theatres go. The smiles and giggles on my kids' faces tells it all. As a bonus the actors pass out little bits of blankies and stickers at the end. It was a pleasant way to end a Sunday afternoon.

Only thing I would say is that don't go with high hopes about the surrounding Children's Fairyland. It probably was very charming back in the day, but it's due for some renovation. It's a good opportunity to teach your kids to find wonder and fun wherever they go. To that end, they did enjoy seeing the barn animals that were there and going again and again through the Alice in Wonderland portion - the maze was a hit.

I will definitely be on the look out for productions by this performing company and gladly pay the full price even if it doesn't come with the tickets to Fairyland.
