The Oakland East Bay Symphony is going to whisk you away on a trip to India without ever leaving your comfortable spot in the Paramount Theatre. This musical vacation features Ravi Shankar's first Sitar Concerto with internationally renowned sitar player Stephen Slawek and excerpts from Passages, Shankar's collaboration with avant-garde composer Philip Glass. The Symphony will also present a world premiere piece by Indian composer Juhi Bansal, before bringing you back to the west with a performance of Beethoven's Symphony No. 7. Learn More

This was an outstanding evening of beautiful music in a magnificent theater, The Paramount in Oakland. Great selection of music with the beautiful voice of Angela to give life to Maya Angelou's powerful words. Seat was way up in the balcony, but fine. Very informative and interesting lecture before as well to give insights into the program.
