- Our Price:

One Night With Janis Joplin adds some actual Fourth of July fireworks to the musical ones produced on stage, with a post-show barbeque buffet on the Arena Stage terrace -- a prime viewing spot for the famed pyrotechnics launched on the National Mall. First up is the show, a part-concert, part-theatrical event that captures Janis Joplin's life and legacy in all its live intensity. Mary Bridget Davies stars as the rock legend in a performance that has audiences dancing in the aisles and critics raving. Featuring powerful musical numbers including "Piece of My Heart, "Summertime" and "Mercedes Benz," as well as one song Joplin never formally recorded, One Night boasts a full band and a cast including Sabrina Elayne Carten, who plays Bessie Smith, Etta James, Aretha Franklin and Nina Simone. After the performance, you'll move outside the theater for food and drinks, along with the fireworks viewing. Please see the full event description for the buffet menu. Learn More

Written on Oct 15 2012My daughter and I went to the event on Sunday from 11 -3 and we were disappointed that the door didn’t even open up until well after 11 am. We waited 45 minutes to get in despite purchasing our tickets well in advance. I found the event disorganized, with long lines, small samples. Some vendors were a no show. The wine tasting area didn’t flow well. We thought that the main event at 1pm, Bethany Frankel would make up for it but we were disappointed, even though we are both big fans. We love you Bethany, but come on, you were a ½ late, and showed us how to make a smoothie, scrambeled eggs and French toast? She didn’t seem engaged with the audience. I would have been pissed off if I paid extra and upgraded to the first 2 rows for the food sampling! By then it was after 2:15 and we only had 45 minutes left and vendors were either out of food and packed up or the lines were too long. We were starving so we left and went to King of Prussia and had a nice late lunch at Maggiano’s.
Written on Oct 15 2012The set up in the expo center was little mis- matched and traffic inside was very congested. I wish all of vendors had shown up to the event, and the vendors had enough products to taste. Several vendors closed and the half way point or were down to one or two offerings to taste. The wine seminar with Thirsty girl was great but people were able to crash it for free. They need a better set up for the extra seminars. They moved us into a cooking demo area because the wine seminar location didn't have a tables or excluded from the general area.
Written on Oct 15 2012The event was packed. It was uncomfortable just moving from one table to the next. It was almost impossible to even sample anything from the wine/liquor section. There should have been a limit for the event. It was disorganized, claustrophobic, and uncomfortable. There should have been people helping to direct the paying customers!
Written on Oct 15 2012The Wine and Food Festival was fun, especially going with my 3 daughters. I feel the layout did not do it justice. When you came in there were food samples which were nice and then it seemed to change to just vendors. It wasn't until the back that all the wine vendors were grouped together. I would have liked to see food and wine grouped closer. So you either sampled food or you sampled wine. With no wash out of the glass, the wine was poured into the glass with a little of the last wine in there. Things could always be improved and I believe these things should be considered for next year. Beautiful display of where you could buy your wines and all vendors were extremely nice and helpful!
