The D.C. Boys Choir presents Singing Our Way To China. This concert is a fund-raiser for the choir's participation in the Pre-Olympic Music Festival in China. One of the premier youth choirs in the nation, the Choir has performed at the White House and the Kennedy Center, as well as several European countries. They'll sing jazz, gospel, and classical selections.

<p>The D.C. Boys Choir will perform a concert featuring jazz, gospel, and classical selections.  The concert is sponsored by Olney Theatre Center to support the show choir’s participation in the Pre-Olympic Music Festival in China.</p> <p>The D.C. Boys Choir has established itself as one of the premier youth choirs in the nation. From its inception in 1993 sponsored by the Gifted and Talented Education Program of the District of Columbia Public Schools and as a local and community choral group, the choir has emerged on the national and international scene with honor and distinction. Under the leadership of Eleanor Stewart, a retired vocal music teacher in the District of Columbia Public Schools, the D.C. Boys Choir has a long and distinguished list of outstanding command performances from Harlem to The White House. </p> Performance highlights for the Choir include:

  • Harlem Boys School in New York
  • Morehouse Mens Glee Club at Morehouse College
  • 14th Annual Choral Tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. in the Kennedy Center Concert Hall, 2002
  • Performance in the Kennedy Center Terrace Theater as special guests of the Washington Men's Camerata, 2001
  • Represented the District of Columbia at the International Children's Choir Festival at Canterbury Cathedral, Canterbury, England, 2001
  • Performance of the Berlioz Te Deum with the Washington Symphony Orchestra at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, 2000
  • Music Educators National Conference at the Omni Shoreham Hotel, Washington, D.C., 2000
  • Christmas performance with the Howard University Choir and Orchestra, 1999
  • Workshops and performance with South African choral director, Mr. Vaughn Van Zyl, associate director of the world renowned Drakenberg Boys Choir, 1997
  • Represented the District of Columbia in the American Musical Salute commemorating Austria's Millenium, 1996
  • Concert tour in Vienna, Salzburg, and Innsbruck, Austria, Lucerne, Switzerland, and Paris, France, 1996
