I've seen this show on Broadway, and it's message is even more relevant today! I never saw a show at Chapman University, but I was very impressed with the costumes, set, lighting, dancing, singing, and acting. Superb! The sound system is awful, however. Not sure if that is a sound design problem with this show or a problem in that theater. The lyrics are hilarious but I only know that because I saw the show before. Singing and some speaking is indecipherable in that theater. My friend had never seen the show and told me she only could figure out about half of the lyrics. And, finally, as with most school musicals, the audience completely overreacts with laughter, comments, and applause since they know the cast personally and revert to high school gymnasium mentality, so keep that in mind if you visit this theater.

Amazing Cast and show // Don't be put off by the title, this musical is top notch. The leads are great / with a strong young supporting cast and the choreography is inspired // this college venue deserves your respect and support // a Must See

Take a Tony award-winning musical with a very unpleasant title. Add a story line built around a town with such a serious water shortage that people have to pay to use public toilets. Mix it with a tuneful and irreverent score that gives a nod to musicals from Broadway to Brecht and Weill. Fill it chock full of colorful characters, underdogs, lovers and corporate scoundrels — and you have Urinetown, the fresh, unique, original, impudent, satirical and ultimately very funny musical.
