Grand and uplifting, Les Misérables is a powerful affirmation of the human spirit and one of the most popular musicals of all time. Woodminster Amphitheater hosts an outdoor production of this tale of passion and revolution in 19th-century France, which won seven Tony Awards on Broadway and was made into an Oscar-nominated film. Cozy up under a blanket and watch ex-convict Jean Valjean's struggle for redemption and the young, innocent love of his adopted daughter Cosette and the student Marius are set against the tumultuous backdrop of the French Revolution. It's a celebration of the human struggle for love, justice and happiness in the face of hardship, carried forward on a gorgeous score, including the beloved songs "I Dreamed a Dream," "On My Own," "One day More," "Do You Hear the People Sing?" and more. Perfect outdoor amphitheater setting. Weather wasn't too cold (mid-Sept) but had our lap blankets and layered clothing ready.Be prepared to use your imagination because it's very different experience from normal plays showed at theaters. It's produced by a local community theater so low budget meant very basic props, costumes and settings. However, we all enjoyed the show and appreciated the creative talent of all the actors. We were thankful that the cute production held our 3-year and 5-year's attention from beginning to end. Loved that it was an informal audience setting so we were able to bring our own snacks and sit wherever we wanted. We hit the nearby Starbucks before the show. the only things we didn't like was the lack of signage in the area and that the show started at 8:30pm, which for us was pretty late for our children.
Bring the entire family to the riverbank and stroll along with the lovable woodland characters in this classic story. Toad, Rat, Mole, Otter and Badger to name just a few of the wonderful characters out on an adventure
