Written with humor and compassion, this heartfelt comedy focuses on the lives of four mentally challenged men and their communal residence caretaker -- all of whom must define for themselves the purpose and meaning of their lives. Whether they're dealing with delusions of grandeur, an irresistible sweet tooth or deep-seated insecurities, Tom Griffin's play explores the lives of its characters through a series of vignettes with a poignant point of view and a prescription-strength dose of humor. An off-Broadway hit that was also made into a TV movie, The Boys Next Door serves as a thoughtful reminder of the little things in life that many of us so often take for granted. Learn More

I enjoy small community theater, and this comedy did not disappoint. The acting was appropriately "over-the-top" so as to achieve the full comedic effect. Notable was the impassioned soliloquoy by the actor playing the head of the office, wherein he morphed into an impassioned evangelist. The conniving female salesperson was outstanding, and the novice salesperson conveyed her naivete with her eyes to great effect.
The theater was very comfortable, a great step up from the digs that Elite Theater formerly occupied in Heritage Square.
Running time is approximately two hours, with one intermission.
There is some mild language usage in the show. Parental discretion is advised.
