Since its initial publication in 2003, nearly seven million readers have been captivated by Afghani-American Dr. Khaled Hosseini's best-selling book, The Kite Runner. It's an extraordinary, heart-wrenching story of two boys coming of age in ravaged, war-torn Afghanistan, and was the basis for an Academy Award-nominated film of the same name. Fresh on the heels of the book's release as a graphic novel, Hosseini will discuss his work (including his best-selling second novel, A Thousand Splendid Suns) and his personal foundation that provides humanitarian assistance to the people of Afghanistan. He'll be in conversation with Mohammad Qayoumi, president of San Jose State University and a member of the Commonwealth Club Board of Governors.

The President of SJSU interviewed Dr Hossein on a small stage with approximately 75 people in attendance. Attendees were encouraged to write questions on cards which were passed on to the host. It seemed to me that all questions were answered.
