Description
Wolf: Italian Serenade
Dvořák: Serenade for Strings
Britten: Serenade for Tenor, Horn and Strings, op. 31
Brian Thorsett, tenor
Kevin Rivard, horn
Bartók: Romanian Folk Dances
NCCO's third concert program of the season honors community and tradition. Dvořák, Britten, and Bartók are all strongly identified with the music of their native lands. Benjamin Britten wrote the darkly poetic Serenade for Tenor, Horn, and Strings for his life partner of 40 years, singer Peter Pears, and their friend Dennis Brain. The evening opens with Hugo Wolf's masterpiece, the Italian Serenade.
