Author of a slew of best-sellers and an alumnus of Time magazine's list of the world's 100 most influential people, Harvard professor Steven Pinker might just be the planet's leading expert on language and the mind. Now this noted linguist and cognitive scientist will discuss his latest book, The Sense of Style: The Thinking Person's Guide to Writing in the 21st Century at the Oshman Family JCC. Are texts and tweets degrading standard English? Are etiquette, writing and grammar going out of style? Pinker will ponder these questions as well as discuss the challenges of crafting clear, coherent and stylish prose. Bask in illuminating commentary from one of the world's brightest minds during this special event sponsored by the Commonwealth Club. Learn More

Intimate seating, snacks, great lighting with a warm & professional jazz performance. Pamela Rose & her musicians were top quality. She had a perfect mix of music and information about the female musicians we should all know.
