It was not clear in the description that this was an amateur production and intended as such. Obviously, this show was designed for parents of the children involved in The Pasadena Playhouse youth theater. Thus, it was disappointing to expect to see the usual quality of show presented by The Pasadena Playhouse and instead experience a mediocre production. The young people involved were enthusiastic and there were some nice performances; as far as this type of thing goes, it was extremely well done. However, if you did not have a child or friend involved in the production, it was pretty much a fail.Written on Dec 15 2008

I assumed this was a professional performance since it is at the pasadena playhouse. My daughter still enjoyed it, but I would have liked to know before hand that it was essentially a children's workshop recital. Had I paid full price I would have been very upset.Written on Dec 22 2008

This was an amateur production and it was not made clear in any of advertisements. My grandchildren (5 & 7) have not seen much live theatre and it is unfortunate that this was one of their first experiences.Written on Dec 22 2008

Description
Victor Herbert's timeless musical adventure follows young Alan and Jane as they run away from rules and chores to the magical land of Toyland, a beguiling world of walking and talking toys. Even a little evil and greediness, as Pete Pinkerton tries to steal the magic of Toyland by escaping with the Toymaker's plans of the famous Toy Soldiers.
