    Guzman is a mezzo-soprano and principal soloist with many international opera companies. Time Magazine called her "a fire-eating singing actress" for her portrayal of Carmen. She was honored as one of the nation’s twelve 1998 Outstanding Latinos in Music, and spotlighted by People Magazine in their Silver Millennium Issue. Her most recent CD "Carlos Chavez: Vol. III" with the Southwest Chamber Music was nominated for a 2006 Grammy award for Best Classical CD. Her elementary school show, "Don't Be Afraid, it's Just Opera" has been performed for more than 250,000 students nationwide.

    Based on the writings of Lorca, the show was compiled by the production's director, Thor Steingraber, who also wrote additional material. Steingraber has directed for leading opera companies, including Lyric Opera of Chicago, San Francisco Opera, LA Opera, Opera Pacific, and New York City Opera. Pianist is John Ballerino, one of the foremost experts on Spanish music. The cast includes Danny Bolero, Marc Cardiff, Guzmán, Margo Reymundo and Vincent Zamora.
