My party of 4 went on Friday night... it was raining and that really added to our experience! VIP tickets were great because we did not wait at all! The door girl, although dressed very proactively- could have been in character to TRY to scare us-but she was NOT?! She was plain & serious, spoiling the fun by telling us NO ONE will touch us & for us not to touch them. Even though this is the policy... it would be more fun to say something like- "we ask that you refrain from petting the ghouls... but then again we ask them to be on their best behavior too?! Ha...Ha!" And just carry on setting the mood... but NO such luck! Inside the monsters had fabulous costumes & makeup. It was a creative maze. No chainsaw madman or stilt reaper... but a few good boos & jumps... I want SCARIER!!!
There is one mad man out front with a shovel that stays in perfect fright character. I would like to see MORE sudden frights and chasing!
It was fun too short. Too bad, It only lasted for 15 minutes. It is good to enter by groups of two otherwise it is not worth it.

It would say the OLD TOWN HAUNT is a bit of silly fun for those who like this sort of event. The truth is there was nothing particularly new or unusual about this particular haunt. It was a typical dark maze with fake looking ghouls hanging from walls and someone jumping out at you at every corner. Sometimes I could see the person lurking yet I would still jump and laugh when they jumped out at me. They advertise all these sets and props from famous horror movies and shows yet nothing stood out. There was a sofa and posters of the movie "THE STEPFATHER" behind it. I didn't think any of the props were particularly well done. This being sad, it really was silly fun and I laughed my way through it. My feeling is this haunt should be at a carnival or some other event and with maybe a $5 admission. I think I overpaid for what I got with the half price ticket. I can't imagine paying $18.50 - $20 for this event. Even with the VIP ticket, you still have to wait in a short line. It seems that you are sent in by your specific group and the next group is not sent in until the other group exits. I was by myself so I entered alone. I had a feeling the actors followed me around to jump out in different locations..hence this works only with one group coming in at a time.
There was also one spot where you need to get down on your hands and knees and crawl through a space. I don't know what the purpose was and I didn't think I could do it but I was fine. The doorman advised us that there was a part where you need to crawl and that if that was a problem you could advise one of the monsters to escort you around that. I tried that and they encouraged me to crawl and I was fine. Still, be aware of that if you have any physical issues. Now with all this in mind, I can say I thought it was fun but not worth the admission price. Plus add in the cost and difficulty of parking in Old Pasadena and the crowds, you might not want to do this event as as stand alone as I did. Throw in dinner or a walk around Colorado Blvd.
It took me about 10 minutes to walk through and it would be longer if you are with a group but again 10 minutes for $20???
