This was quite a memorable and inspirational event. The food and drink were tasty and the silent auction was a great idea. The best part had to be hearing the program participants in the audience cheering on their peers. They were gleeful and proud of their work, and the actors did a fine job performing for the audience.

Really entertaining benefit supporting a great cause. Pre-show reception has some great bites and good silent auction. Exciting to see fine actors performing. Only caveat, Angela Bassett was reduced to a cameo appearace. Would have like to have seen her in one of the scenes. Overall, excellent.

<p>The Playhouse has partnered with WriteGirl, a creative writing and mentoring program for teen girls in the greater Los Angeles area (now in its eighth tremendous year) to create a very special event. The Playhouse campus will turn into a WriteGirl venue, with over 150 girls attending workshops and breakout sessions during the day. Aspiring writers will work alongside professional women writers of all genres to create new works right on the spot.</p> <p>Following a reception on the courtyard with live jazz, a silent auction and fantastic food selections, there will be a star-studded performance of the day's work on the Playhouse Mainstage. Confirmed celebrities include Angela Basset, Annie Potts, Christine Lahti, Melora Hardin, Dana DeLany, JoBeth Williams, and Sprague Grayden, among others.</p> <p>
Reception refreshments are generously provided by Nancy Silverton (Mozza), Silverlake Wine, barbrix, BLD, Little Dom's, Cliff's Edge, Border Grill and Ciudad Catering, Cake Monkey, Hocus Pocus Winery, Veno Kado, The Silver Lake Fruit Co. and Sweets for the Soul.</p>
