I thought Stormy Weather a one woman show about the life of Lena Horne, much as Lena Horne had done at the Pantages in the 1990's. Imagine my surprise when I found that this was a full scale show, with a terrific Leslie Uggams and a wonderful supporting cast.
Though I read in one review that they thought the first act was too long, I did not think so at all.......I thought the concept of the show, past and present, and the depth of the talent, especailly Dee Hoty as Kay Thompson, Nikki Crawford as the young Lena and Kevyn Morrow as Billy Strayhorn made for a great evening of entertainment.
The songs by Harold Arlen, Irving Berlin, Fats Wller, Cole Porter, Jerome Kern, Richard Rodgers and Hoagy Carmichael were a delight to listen to as was the great band conducted by Linda Twine.
This is a delightful show and a not a bad seat in the house.

Great show. Nikki Crawford and Leslie Uggams are terrific. The supporting cast is excellent. Show runs a little long, but it's an innovative effort, and the songs, song stylings, orchestra and the tap dancers keep it moving at a nice pace.
Seats weren't great but Pasadena Playhouse has great sightlines, so no complaints there.
I only wish it were playing longer, I'd love to see it again!

One goes to this production for the songs, all of which are stellar. The book is weak and Leslie Uggums, though she can still sing well, cannot act.
The actress who plays the younger Lena Horne steals the show.

This production was way too long and could have been trimmed, which is why it gets 3 stars vs. 4.

The tap dancers were incredible! The actor portraying Lennie Hayton -- AMAZING!
