Pasadena's A Noise Within Theatre presents Moliere's classic comedy The Bungler. Moliere's first romp written in verse, and one of the greatest hits of his lifetime, this rarely produced gem features a nonstop cavalcade of wily servants, dim-witted young lovers and avaricious old men on a bumbling, tumbling, tackling, wild and woolly ride. Julia Rodriguez-Elliott directs this translation by Richard Wilbur, which draws heavily from the Italian improvisatory commedia dell'arte form.

Boeing Boeing: Tony-Winning '60s Farce Comes in for a Landing

The popular English version of playwright Marc Camoletti's classic 1960s French farce Boeing-Boeing jets into Addison, courtesy of the WaterTower Theatre. This high-flying comedy follows a French architect named Bernard who is secretly engaged to three different flight attendants. When the new, faster Boeing jet goes into service, his fiancées' schedules get jumbled, and things turn turbulent for Bernard as all three of them descend on his Paris apartment simultaneously, along with an old schoolmate. The 1965 film version starred Jerry Lewis and Tony Curtis, and the 2008 Tony-winning revival featured Bradley Whitford, Mark Rylance, Christine Baranski, Gina Gershon and Mary McCormack. Learn More

The lead (JD Cullum) is excellent. There's a bit of style confusion with some of the cast - however - it's wonderfully directed and the costumes are excellent. We had an entertaining afternoon. The theatre is absolutely magnificent - very comfortable - I wasn't thrilled that our seats were in the very last row at the very end of the side section. Most of the action was directed at the center section.

The play itself is magnificent, but I was sorely disappointed by the very poor and amateurish acting, bad choice of unnecessary improvisation, distracting tuba playing, singing numbers that detracted from the play, and overall acting ability. I have attended a number of plays by this theater and all were of the highest quality. Don't know what happened this time.

A wonderful show with a great cast -- funny, inventive, full of
surprises and accompanied by a tuba player who added some
clever musical riffs.
