Independence Walking Tour
Philly's Haunted History: Independence Walking Tour
The Independence Walking Tour is the family-friendly version of Grim Philly's popular Vampires, Sex, Ghosts and So Much More tour, which won Best City Tour on Channel 17's Hot List. Led by university professor Joe Wojie, this spooky (but not too spooky) tour sets out from the Independence Visitor Center at 6th and Market Streets to explore more than two dozen historical sites in just over 90 minutes, including not just familiar landmarks like Independence Hall and the Library of Congress, but also the seedy scenes of former gallows, the slave auction blocks and such notoriously haunted structures as City Tavern. Hear chilling tales of pirate ghost ships, mass unmarked graves and more sordid stories the other tour guides leave out.
